Located in midtown Manhattan, Times Square is a must see spot for any tourist. It would be hard to miss this stretch of road from West 42nd to 47th Streets that is exploding with light and filled with advertisements. However, before it became the iconic locale of today, Times Square was formally known as Longacre Square until 1904 when The New York Times moved its headquarters. Today, more than 20 million people visit annually, including the employees, residents, and tourists- making it a major hub of activity. Other than people watching, Times Square (also called The Crossroads of the World”) features the ABC studio, the Naked Cowboy, and Planet Hollywood. Not to mention, more than a million people visit during the New Year’s Eve Celebration to watch the Waterford Crystal Ball drop.
