Brotherly Love

Established in 1701, Philadelphia is Greek for “brotherly love” and is now both the largest city in the the state of Pennsylvania and the 6th most populated city in the United States. This city has always been a hub of activity and history, even back to its colonial roots. As the heart of Pennsylvania during its time as one of the 13 original colonies, Philadelphia is the location where the Declaration of Independence was signed, and today is the resting place for the Liberty Bell. A prominent Philadelphian is Benjamin Franklin, a founding father, and a man who was highly influential in the creation of the United States government.  Additionally, Philadelphia was the first major industrial city, it is also home to the nation’s first hospital and zoo.

Modern-Day Philadelphia
