Birthplace of a Nation

Independence Hall in Historic Philadelphia can be considered the birthplace of the United States as it was within those walls that the Declaration of Independence was adopted in 1776, and the U.S. Constitution, starting with the iconic lines We the people of the United States”, was drafted and signed. Philadelphia is also home to the Liberty Bell, which tradition tells us, chimed from the tower of Independance Hall when the Declaration of independence was first publicly read aloud. The bell was last heard ringing on George Washington’s birthday in 1846. Interestingly, Christ Church is located in this historic city and was the worship site of George Washington, Betsy Ross, as well as Benjamin Franklin.

Famous Philadelphians

Betsy Ross was asked to make the first U.S. flag by a secret committee of the Continental Congress comprised of George Washington, Robert Morris, and George Ross. Benjamin Franklin is the 18th century’s most illustrious Pennsylvanian and one of the founding fathers of the United States.

This ornament is a wonderful keepsake to remember your visit to Historic Philadelphia – and a great gift for every patriot, Pennsylvanian, and history buff.
